Bret Michaels has laid out the reasons why he should be the next judge on American Idol.
But there’s one person he doesn’t need to convince, and she’s someone who knows a lot about the gig: Paula Abdul.
“If he were to take that position I think he would be awesome at it because you’ve got to have a passion and love for music,” Abdul told Us Weekly. “It takes somebody who really, really understands young people to try to make the magic happen in those 30 seconds. [Bret] would fit the mold perfectly.”
That said, Paula says no one will ever be able to truly replace Simon Cowell.
“Honestly, the word replacement to me does not apply because, as we all know, they broke the mold after Simon. I don’t think he could ever be replaced,” she said. “There should be no comparison.”
It’s true, but it’s still an important question: Should Bret Michaels be the next American Idol judge?

Just five weeks after suffering a brain hemorrhage, Bret Michaels returned to the stage last night in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Incredibly, this event itself was NOT the most surprising development of the evening! But, first, a quick recap of the concert:
Limping slighty, Bret told the 1,400-person crowd at the Hard Rock Casino: “I’ve got a little bitty hitch in my left giddy up, but I think we’ll be all right. It’s an awesome feeling. I’m glad to be here.”
He then played a set that included former Poison hits such as “Talk Dirty to Me, “Unskinny Bop” and “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” the same single he sang with Casey James on the American Idol finale.
For Bret Michaels: First, Celebrity Apprentice. Next, American Idol?!?
Prior to one song, he shocked the crowd and announced: “I can’t say this is true yet, cause I don’t know. Next year they asked me to possibly be the judge on American Idol.”
A source close to Michael confirmed Bret is “in the running to replace Simon,” while an audience member said “I figured he’d be wobbly and sitting on a stool. But he was energetic, running around the stage with his guitar.”
So if the singer really is on his way to recovery, that begs the question: Would he be a good replacement for Simon Cowell?

What a difference a month makes…
Bret Michaels went from his death bed in late April to the top of the board room last night, becoming the latest Celebrity Apprentice champion when Donald Trump “hired” the ailing rocker.
“I gotta tell you, I am so thrilled, I am beyond thrilled to have won,” he told E! News at the show’s after-party.

Due to his recent stroke, of course, Michaels had to jet across the country in order to attend the finale, a decision that was NOT doctor-approved.
“We went back into the hospital again, they said, ‘Listen, we don’t advise that you fly, but if you wanna do it, here’s what you need to do.’ And I’m here, and I didn’t want to miss this for the world. I’m ready to rock,” he said.
As usual Donald Trump also chimed in with overflowing praise – but, for once, it wasn’t for himself.
“Bret has been fantastic right from the beginning,” Trump said. “He almost died a month ago, less than a month ago. He was a little bit shaky tonight, but in the end he came through like he always does.”
That’s what countless groupies have said.

On the VH1 reality show Rock of Love, Bret Michaels got lucky many times, often in the back of his tour bus.
Similarly, the singer’s surgeon described him as “lucky” today at a press conference, where Dr. Joseph Zabramski updated fans on the progress of Michaels, fewer than two weeks after he suffered a brain hemorrhage.
“Mr. Michaels was indeed a very lucky person,” Zabramski, speaking to the press at the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, said. “He’s improving and I expect him to continue to improve. I really expect that he will fortunately make a 100 percent recovery.”
Bret has been discharged and reps say he may even perform on stage again before the month is over.
Hurry up and get better, Bret Michaels: there are countless VH1 reality stars you have not yet boned!
Zabramski does caution that Michaels is “very sick right now.” He’s been moved to an undisclosed location and will continue treatment there.
But the rocker’s “sheer will to live,” along with well wishes from his fans, can only help him on his path to full recovery. We’re thinking of you, Bret!

According to a representative for Bret Michaels, the rocker “remains in ICU under 24 hour surveillance” and “further testing this week will help locate the source of the bleeding”
While not exactly encouraging news about the singer, who suffered a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage last week, this message on BretMichaels.com is at least based on fact and written by someone close to the situation.
Then there’s the latest from Donald Trump. Like a Republican politican resorting to scare tactics for attention, the Celebrity Apprentice host tells TMZ that Michaels is in “big, big trouble and the prognosis is not great.”
Trump doesn’t back this statement up with any medical information, but does at least offer the following about Bret, who is competing on The Donald’s reality show:
“He turns out to be an amazing competitor and ultimately that is the thing that could save his life.”
We sure hope so.
Meanwhile, a new theory has surfaced about Bret’s condition. Because such hemorrhages are typically related to blunt trauma, might this accident have caused the bleed? It certainly seems possible.

Currently struggling with life-threatening health issues, Bret Michaels is back in the hospital following painful headaches which culminated in bleeding at the base of his brain stem.
According to People magazine reports, the 47-year-old singer turned reality star is listed in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital after being rushed to get help late Thursday night.
Suffering from a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage, a People insider tells, “After several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram, [doctors] decided to keep Michaels in the ICU and are running several tests to determine the cause.”
As for the upcoming hospital plans, the source said, “[It] will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation.”
As previously reported by Gossip Center, Michaels underwent an emergency appendectomy in San Antonio, Texas, just two weeks ago.

On Rock of Love, Bret Michaels had more sex with desperate groupies than Heidi Montag has had plastic surgery procedures.
As a result, it shouldn’t be hard to grasp the controversy surrounding the rocker’s duet with 17-year old Miley Cyrus, especially when the lyrics on “Nothing to Lose” include:
We both know better than this/Still we can’t resist/Slowly get undressed/Won’t you fall down on me/So close I can feel you breathe.
Still, when asked about the scandalous song, Michaels told Us Weekly “it’s blown out of proportion.” He elaborated, explaining how the duet came about:
“[Miley's] like, ‘This is an incredible song, it’s beautiful. Maybe I could [add] some stuff to it, some harmonies,’” Bret said. “She was excited that she didn’t have to follow any rules.”
As for telling a girl that’s not yet old enough to vote to “slowly get undressed?”
“I never sat down and said, ‘Look at the content. Look at the lyrical content,’” Michaels said. “The part where it says she slowly gets undressed, Miley says, ‘Yeah she does.’ It has no reference to her and I. It’s not even a duet.”
In conclusion, the long-haired reality star makes no apologies:
“As God is my witness, there is nothing I have to be defensive about. I’m a good dad. I just thought it was a beautiful song.”
It’s not bad. We just hope Miley showered multiple times the day they recorded it together.
