Chelsea Clinton has spent most of her life avoiding the limelight, and as hard as that may be for a former First Daughter, she’s proved remarkably adept at it.
Escaping attention, sticking to a close circle of friends and family, and being a thoughtful and accomplished young woman has been her commendable M.O.
Which is why her debut as a reporter with NBC News this week was a bit surprising, but what wasn’t a big surprise was that she seemed somewhat camera-shy:
Introducing his new reporter, who has no journalistic experience, Brian Williams said only that Chelsea Clinton “has joined us because she wants to tell stories.”
The daughter of Bill and Hillary has made it clear that she doesn’t want to become the next Barbara Walters or celebrify herself, but to do good in the world.
It looks like it took her all of 48 hours to make her presence felt in that regard with her first story, a piece on TOPPS Inc, a Pine Bluff, Ark., after school charity.
“We are thrilled and absolutely overwhelmed with joy,” said a volunteer, who declined to provide her name. “We’re overwhelmed with donations,” she said.
Christina Aguilera sang some classic Jackson tunes before a capacity crowd at the Michael Forever tribute concert in Cardiff, Wales, on Saturday evening.
The 30-year-old singer was one of a handful of celebrities who paid tribute to the late Michael Jackson, including Cee Lo Green, Ne-Yo, and Leona Lewis.
A pregnant Beyonce performed via video, while Jennifer Hudson reportedly bailed at the last minute. Fearne Cotton and Jamie Foxx hosted the event.

Loading up on beverages while prepping for an active day, Miley Cyrus stepped out to visit the local Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Toluca Lake, California on Saturday (February 5).
The former Disney darling was stopped by a group of girls who talked her into posing for a group photo outside the local brew house before heading inside to purchase a large frozen coffee, smoothie, bottled water and a drinkable yogurt.
Wearing a black jacket, white t-shirt and jeans on the weekend excursion, Miley had her new ink job all covered up – as she recently added a fifth tattoo in tribute to her four siblings, Brandi, 23, Trace, 21, Braison, 16, and Noah, 10.
Reports tell that the protective etching is “a picture of the dream catcher that hangs over her bed with four feathers to represent her four brothers and sisters.”
Of her many tats, an insider said, “All of Miley’s tattoos have a deep meaning to her. They all represent family and friends close to her.”
Reuniting for the first time since the end of their fake relationship, Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi faced off in a joint interview on Wednesday night.
For a segment to air next month on The Bachelorette, of course.
The taped reunion between the fame-obsessed pair, whose breakup is becoming more bitter by the day, quickly got out of hand – and nearly violent.
According to reports, Jake Pavelka “exploded in anger” at Vienna Girardi and at one point turned toward her and pulled his arm back, making a fist.
It was a shocking display that left Vienna in tears, and left witnesses wondering if Jake might be getting ready to straight up whomp his ex-fiancee.
At another point, Jake told Vienna to “shut up” three times.

The Breakup of the Century is dominating headlines this week, prompting ABC to capitalize by secretly reuniting the warring duo for footage that will air July 5.
They had to know what was coming (possibly because they scripted it).
“Jake was visibly angry,” a source said. “At one point he wheeled back and I thought he was going to throw a punch. He pulled his arm back, his hand in a fist.”
Despite obvious tension and drama, a longtime friend of Jake’s insists: “Jake would NEVER hit her, EVER. End of story. The guy doesn’t even use swear words.”
ABC also denies that any punches or near-punches were thrown. “The atmosphere was emotionally charged,” the network acknowledged in a statement, but:
“However, and contrary to reports that have surfaced, at no time was anyone physically in harm’s way, nor was anyone ever threatened with physical violence.”
As Bachelorette host-pimp Chris Harrison tried to keep things from getting heated, Pavelka stood up in frustration, asking pointedly, “Will you just let me finish?”
“He couldn’t get a word out, it was very reflective of their relationship,” says a source, who adds that host Chris often had to tell Girardi, “Vienna, let him talk.”
